Process improvement Engineer




To perform an engineering role in our engineering centre of excellence based in Hythe, Kent. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team is responsible for delivering process assembly solutions, working with R&D department as well as driving continuous improvement activities for the European manufacturing sites.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead and carry out engineering activities as directed.

  • Carry out reviews of manufacturing processes and systems, support current product operations.

  • Support the Introduction of new technologies and systems into manufacturing sites.

  • Plan and oversee process validation activities at manufacturing sites.

  • Plan own work to achieve objectives in engineering activities towards minor to major projects.

  • Conduct engineering activities of advanced scope or degree of difficulty with supervision.

  • Play a part in achieving resolutions related to manufacturing issues and continuous improvement activities.

  • Plan and oversees testing work.

  • Prepare documentation associated with engineering activities.

  • Conduct testing for assigned projects.

  • Contribute to corrective action development and alternatives.

  • Good ability to manage people.

  • Knowledge of Project Management practises.

  • Basic knowledge of PLC systems.

  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of tooling part design and manufacture.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering materials, plastics and steels.

  • Basic knowledge of financial assessment and product costing.

  • Understands and follows requirements of SOPs.

  • This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including knowledge of all standards, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes related to the site).

  • Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

  • Contributes to the development of the Engineering team

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Some years experiences in a related manufacturing engineering field.

  • Knowledge of lean and continuous improvement techniques.

  • Knowledge of process characterization and validation methodologies.

  • A Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Product Design or related field is essential.

  • Theoretical knowledge and Practical experience of manufacturing engineering, material properties and product design.

  • Communication skills (oral, visual, presentations).

  • Experience working with MS Office.

  • Experience with Minitab statistical software.

  • Basic knowledge of Solidworks (CAD).

  • Ability to work under own initiative, introduce new ideas and solutions to the engineering team.

  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels.

  • Ability in problem solving techniques, analyse data and critically review and interpret technical.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and to meet key deadlines under pressure through effective time management.

  • Experienced in team working.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.
