SOUTHWARK COUNCIL: Senior Education Welfare Officer
The role
The vision of the Early Help Service is to deliver an accessible, responsive service which provides practical professional advice to clients and can demonstrate partnership working both within the team and externally. We need a skilled professional to provide effective and targeted interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary integrated team, maintaining and progressing a caseload of families in accordance with service procedures, using a variety of professional skills, including consultation, identification, assessment, intervention, delivery and review. Also you’ll ensure that statutory duties in relation to school attendance are progressed. You will be working with partners to ensure the safeguarding and educational needs of Children Missing Education, children who are risk of exclusion and those who are permanently excluded are met. Holding a caseload of children you’ll be linked to schools, academies and alternative provisions and you will provide Active Case Management to Education Welfare Officers. Based in the heart of the community, on occasions you will be working flexibly out of core business hours, so that we can fully meet the needs of the children and families we are working with.
