DSHS Attendant Counselor 2 - SOLA - Kent - Washington State Government - Kent, WA

As a Direct Support Professional, your work hours will be 11:00 pm – 7:00 am Sunday through Thursday with Friday/Saturday as your days off. You’ll provide supervision and instruction to SOLA participants in accordance with Individual Service Plans (ISP), Risk Protocols, Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), Delegated Nursing Guidelines and Responsibilities, and Individual Financial Plans. Clients may exhibit challenging behavior, may be assaultive, have a dual diagnosis of intellectual disability and mental health, have community protection issues and/or clients with health problems.

Duties
Primary duties:


  • As a Direct Support Professional, this position provides supervision and instruction to SOLA participants in accordance with Individual Instructional Support Plans (IISP’s), Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP’s), Delegated Nursing Guidelines and Responsibilities, and Individual Financial Plans (IFP’s).

  • Assist and train SOLA participants in all areas of ADL’s and any personal care as needed, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, transferring, social behavior, meal planning and preparation, and household management.

  • Implement individualized programs, plans and services.

  • Incorporate values from the Washington State Residential Guidelines (competence, status and recognition, power and choice, safety and health, relationships and inclusion in the community) in all supports.

  • Maintain participant homes, yards, possessions in good condition at all times.

  • Assist with medical or behavioral emergencies.

  • Transport participants to appointments, activities, etc.

  • Assess medical and overall conditions and safely and accurately implement all nursing procedures as trained by clinical/RND nurse.

  • May include but not limited to: medication administration, blood pressure cuffs/machines, use of oximeter, suction and percussion equipment, nebulizer, colostomy care, internal pump, stoma care, program and use a feeding machine, diabetes supplies and equipment, and monitor an oxygen compressor.

Qualifications
Who should apply

High School graduation or GED AND 1 year of experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities and must be able to obtain and maintain Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or NAC certification.


OR


High School graduation or GED AND 1 year experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher level as a Washington State service employee and must be able to obtain and maintain Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) or NAC certification.
