Person Specification – Graduate Teaching Assistant
To be successful in your Teaching Assistant application, you will be an inventive graduate who has already spent time in a role where you worked closely with children and will possess an impressive academic record with a 2:1 or better in your degree. This Teaching Assistant post requires a graduate who has the skills to demonstrate their commitment, drive and ambition to become a teacher. The school wants to recruit a Graduate Teaching who has the ability to present and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively to both students and staff alike.
About the Teaching Assistant role
Your Teaching Assistant duties will include coordinating groups of struggling or gifted pupils, working together with the class teachers to identify potential pupils who would benefit from extra-class support. The SLT place each Teaching Assistant under the charge of a designated mentor, in your case this will be an Outstanding Teacher who is one of the most caring and effective teachers I have come across. To equip you with further skills and confidence, the school are offering you a place on their bespoke CPD programme and your progress will be monitored throughout the year and if you work-hard you are likely to be offered a place on the exceptional School Direct scheme. The Teaching Assistant role will see you in a supportive capacity in the classes which best reflect your degree specialism and there will also be the occasional class where you will need to act in a Cover Supervisor capacity.
