A forward-thinking Grammar School in Medway is looking to recruit an excellent Science Graduate to join their Science department as the new Science Teaching Assistant. You will have attained your Degree classification of 2(ii) or above and you will have a solid academic background coupled with a strong desire to teach Science in the future. The successful new Science Teaching Assistant may have some experience mentoring or students in the past, either paid or voluntary, and you will be looking to build up your experience in a Secondary School ahead of your PGCE/School Direct application.

The Science department is a strong, successful department with some excellent practitioners. The new Science Teaching Assistant will assist them with their classes; helping to plan, prepare and deliver. You will be given exposure to all key stages to give you a well-rounded insight into the life of a Science Teacher. Since the last Science Teaching Assistant has successfully secured a place on Canterbury Christchurch’s PGCE course for next academic year, you will be a direct replacement and the whole of the science team want you to have just as much of a fulfilling year as the previous incumbent.

The Secondary School is a modern 11-18 Grammar School with approximately 1200 on roll. The School plays a large part in the community and you will be expected to get involved in school events and extra-curricular activities to give you a true reflection of the role of the school in the wider community. The Head Teacher wants you to feel part of the school family and you will be treated like a permanent member of staff.

The Secondary School is located in Medway and not far from the nearest railway station. For Teaching Assistants who drive, there is a space waiting for you on site.
