Information about the school
Dover Grammar School for Girls is a highly successful, friendly, and supportive school. Staff, pupils, parents and visitors frequently comment on the strength of the community spirit, and the school enjoys a very positive reputation in the local area. Pupils are encouraged to be aspirational, to develop a lifelong love of learning, and to become well-rounded, happy and fulfilled young people.
Judged “Outstanding” by Ofsted, the school has also been nationally recognised for the quality of its results. It was placed as the 34th best-performing school in the country at A Level by the Daily Telegraph in 2016, and listed in the top 200 schools nationally by The Sunday Times’ Parent Power. It is significantly over-subscribed every year, being the first school of choice for parents in the area seeking an academic education for their daughters. Boys are accepted into the sixth form.
The school aims to inspire academic excellence and personal fulfilment in all pupils. There is a strong tradition of pupils continuing their education to degree-level, with many gaining places at Russell Group universities and Oxbridge.
The school offers a wide and diverse range of extra-curricular activities, including lunchtime clubs, sporting events, dance and drama performances, and European exchange visits. Pupils are given many opportunities to develop as well-rounded individuals, keen to make a positive contribution to society through their chosen career path. Strong pastoral support is provided for all pupils at every stage of their education to make sure they can meet the challenges of growing up in a world which is changing rapidly.
Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
