Disaster Recovery Specialist Service Continuity

My client, a leading Insurance Company, are looking to recruit an experienced Disaster Recovery Specialist to help support the overall Service and Business Continuity team.


Key responsibilities of the role are likely to include:
* Acting as the primary point of contact for all Disaster Recovery (DR) and Service Continuity queries
* Being responsible for the oversight and governance of DR solutions for new services and projects
* Responsible for Coordinating, planning and delivering DR tests (inside and outside of office hours) with 3rd parties with support of other teams including Implementation, and Application management as part of an annual DR testing programme
* Proactively contributing to a continual improvement programme, identifying areas within the programme to reduce risk and ensure a more effective response to incidents
* Ensuring all SC and DR solutions and controls are in compliance with best practices, and internal/external audit requirements


Key Accountabilities of the role will include:
* Reporting the current state of assurance to different parts of the business
* Recommending and implementing improvements to recovery capability and strategy
* Ensuring 3rd parties adhere to contracted SLA’s around recovery capability and other risks
* Delivering improvement projects over and above programme activity
* Maintenance and review of all internal and 3rd party documentation, processes and IT Service Continuity/recovery plans
* Post exercise review and test report writing
* Providing SME support for all Projects around ITSC and DR requirements
* Improving and maintaining business understanding of the recovery capability (RTC) vs recovery requirement (RTO) for Tiered IT applications and infrastructure


Applicants will be expected to have had recent relevant experience within in Disaster Recovery and at least two of the following disciplines – Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Risk, Emergency response planning, or Resilience planning. A thorough technical understanding of DR techniques, processes and related technology, i.e. replication, storage, backup and recovery technology and software will be required.


It would be expected that applicants would have familiarity with common risk management and assessment processes and standards ISO31000, coupled with experience of reviewing, writing and maintaining large numbers of technical and overarching recovery plans and Business Impact assessments as part of an effective DR programme.


Furthermore, given the level of the role: a high standard of report writing and presentation slide design, development and delivery will be required.
