Lead Officer for a Schools Partnership Development




A Local Authority in South East London seeks a Lead Officer for a Schools Partnership Development contract which will be for 3 days a week for 3 months to extend

Essential skills and qualifications


In-depth knowledge of current England education policy and guidance related to schools
In-depth knowledge of leadership and schools development
In depth knowledge of project Senior leadership in a UK primary phase school within the last two years
Managing educational organisations through change, within the last two years
Working in a leadership role in the academy sector is desirable
School improvement experience or experience as an Ofsted inspector, within the last three years and change management approaches
A recognised UK teaching qualification with current recognised teaching status
A post graduate education or management qualification is desirable


The role involves the following:


Lead the development of a new Partnership relationship and associated structures with the Boroughs Academy and maintained schools.


To establish a Partnership Development Board working with the Director of Education to provide a core structure for managing future joint working with Academy schools


To lead on support and challenge work with individual schools in relation to statutory requirements of the local authority to ensure the needs of the most vulnerable children are met.


To work with a range of other internal and external services with a role in achieving a new way of supporting effectively high quality schools and education for all the children in the Borough


Produce and implement a plan for the development of a new form of relationship management with Academy schools including establishing a Partnership Board, working with the Director of Education and involving consultation with other key stakeholders.


Develop a new Education services strategy for school engagement in the Borough, taking account of the intentions in the Education White Paper 2016.


Work collaboratively with a wide range of internal services and external agencies to achieve the outcome required, including parent groups.


Undertake work with individual schools MATs and school clusters to provide challenge and support to ensure the local authority is exercising its statutory role effectively related to the safeguarding and well-being of all children and enabling all children to achieve their educational potential.
Support remaining maintained schools on their Academy journey.


Represent the Director of Education and the client at meetings where required with both internal and external partners and agencies, representing the head of service where necessary.


To proactively review and consider the implications locally of national schools related policy and guidance, specifically from Department for Education, Department for Education and Ofsted.


To oversee the authority’s statutory duty related to SACRE.


Please note this is a temporary role and you will need to be available to start on 1-2 weeks notice
