POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, directing and being accountable for people and processes for all shifts in production and sanitation, in a timely manner. Contribute as a business partner helping in the delivery of plan, mission, goals and values, ensuring prosperity of the company and its people.
primary responsibilities
Maintain even flow of work by being organized and planning ahead and being able to make changes as needed.
Maintain quality product by making sure that all employees meet company and USDA specifications.
Develop highly productive personnel and work teams by using training and motivational techniques and by delegating specific duties to key personnel.
Oversee all shift personnel by monitoring efficiencies, conducting reviews, counseling sessions, evaluations and by keeping up to date records.
Follow through, ensuring leads, operators and other personnel are accountable for their areas of responsibility.
Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed according to prescribed procedures, accurately and timely by following through on delegated tasks and assisting where necessary.
Ensure proper processing of product by monitoring all aspects of the departments and shifts, as well as equipment, cleanliness and personnel.
Ensure profitability of department by formulating products for quality and least cost in processing and monitor packaging to avoid waste.
Monitor and administer QAD program insisting on accurate, complete and timely data.
Manage meat inventories by controlling quantities and proper rotation ensuring oldest meat is always used first.
Supervise activities of production areas by ensuring new employees are properly trained, timecards are monitored and overtime controlled, paperwork is submitted timely, and daily activities are coordinated and performance reviews are conducted.
Direct department lead(s) in coordination of personnel and product to ensure smooth work transition between shifts.
Ensure accurate calibration of machines and that all machinery is in good repair and that machine operators are properly trained to ensure optimum efficiency.
Monitor and administer SSOP, HACCP, and GMP programs, insisting on accurate, complete and timely compliance.
Encourage safety by insisting on a clean, safe work environment, and ensure that employees are following prescribed safety procedures, which includes each employee wearing the proper personal protective equipment.
Monitor and control expenses by aggressively managing supply and other budget areas including payroll and overtime.
Support Continuous Improvement through leadership and development of processes and procedures.
Maintain accountability to Oberto Brands Food Safety and Quality Principles.
Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
Informs Management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which have become non-compliant with specified requirements.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Back Up: The Production Supervisors on either shift back up each other.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, engineering or related field preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Six Sigma or Lean Certification Preferred.
EXPERIENCE
2+ years equivalent experience in production or packaging leadership and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, food manufacturing preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE
Must have strong working knowledge of Food Safety and Regulatory business standards, practices, policies, procedures and state and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, SSOP’s, OSHA and Labor Laws.
Knowledge of all aspects of plant operations and management; including scheduling, processing, packaging, material flow, inventory, efficiency management, cost control, capacity planning, safety and regulatory compliance.
