Elementary Library 5.75hrs/9mo - Kent School District - Kent, WA





The purpose of this position is to provide instructional and clerical assistance to the librarian in an elementary school. Responsibilities typically include instruction of students, student discipline, planning, preparation of materials, and record keeping. This job involves supervision of student library helpers and computer cataloging and circulation of library materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • AA degree or 90 quarter-hour college credits*. Transcripts must on file to be considered for an interview. Completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment test with a score of 461 or higher will be accepted in lieu of college credits. Proof of score must be on file.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Associates degree (AA) or 90 college level (Clvl) quarter-hour credits*. Transcripts must be on file to be considered for an interview. Completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment test with a score of 461 or higher will be accepted in lieu of college credits. Proof of score must be on file.

  • Desire candidate with familiarity with Ameritech/Dynix library system.

  • Prefer candidate with accurate keyboarding skills and attentiveness to details.

  • Candidate must be flexible and work in a positive manner with students, staff and public.

  • Previous experience working with students preferred

  • Prefer candidate that is a team player, positive, with good communication skills.

  • Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community.

  • Ability to communicate in another language.

  • Desired characteristics are: flexibility; ability to organize ideas, time and materials to accomplish goals; enthusiasm; ability to express ideas clearly and understand concepts being discussed; ability to learn new ideas and skills; ability and willingness to develop favorable relationships with students; and willingness to model behavior deemed appropriate by the school district and the community.

  • * Federal law now requires that Paraeducators have a minimum of 90 quarter-hour college credits, an AA degree, or pass a rigorous exam to hold positions that receive federal funding.
