Information about the school

The Canterbury Inclusion Service (Grosvenor House) works with Key Stage 3 students who are at risk of exclusion due to social, emotional and mental health needs. It is a service used by the secondary schools in the Canterbury District and is able to provide advice, support and expertise.

Following a recent review of the service, we now offer assessment and intervention, through a broad and balanced curriculum and a range of therapeutic inputs, with the aim of reintegrating pupils back into the mainstream setting. For some students, our assessments lead to the identification of special educational needs.

Canterbury Inclusion Service works with a maximum of 16 students at any one time, with students attending the provision on a revolving door basis. Staff are therefore required to work within the provision and also accompany students back into school to support their reintegration.

The provision itself offers a small, nurturing environment with a high ratio of adults to students. The Key Stage 3 National Curriculum is taught but is delivered in a creative and varied way to ensure engagement levels remain high. Students have access to a range of professionals through the service including counselling, educational psychologists and speech and language therapists.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
