The Federation of Foxwood & Highview School currently have a vacancy for a permanent KS3 teacher to be based at Highview School.
This role would suit a candidate with experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs who has a comprehensive knowledge of the new National Curriculum and the teaching of early literacy skills. Effective classroom practice and an overriding commitment to pupil progress are essential attributes. An ability to respond to different learning styles is essential together with a commitment to active engagement within lessons.
Candidates will preferably have a proven record of good classroom teaching and curriculum innovation in a special or mainstream school in either the Primary or Secondary phase. However, applications from NQTs with a commitment to working with pupils with Special Needs will also be considered.

Highview School is entering an exciting phase of its development as we move into a brand new purpose built school and merge with our Federation partner school, Foxwood (which caters for students with profound and severe needs) in September 2016.
Highview School is a mixed special school with 204 pupils aged between 5 to 19 years. We have an excellent reputation for providing a challenging, productive and happy learning environment. We cater for children experiencing moderate and complex learning needs arising out of a combination of needs in addition to cognition and learning. Pupils have one or more additional special needs including speech and language; social, emotional and behaviour difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders in addition to their cognition difficulties. Class sizes average 10 pupils in the primary department and 12 pupils at secondary level. Classes are supported with teaching assistants.
Ofsted awarded Highview School “Outstanding” in all areas in 2014. The school has an excellent reputation locally, enjoys overwhelming parental support and provides a challenging, productive and happy learning environment.
