Nursery Manager

Position: Nursery Manager
Location: West Kent (TN8)
Hours: 40 hours/week
Contract length: Permanent
Starting salary: £29-32k/annum negotiable, dependent on qualification and experience

We are delighted to be partnered with a brand new day nursery in West Kent, which is due to open in July/August 2016, as they recruit a team of dedicated early years professionals! Integral to the exciting plans is the appointment of the Nursery Manager and if you are an experienced Early Years Practitioner with a long and steady history of demonstrating exceptional practice, we want to hear from you!

The nursery is conveniently located on the main road in a lovely, lively town, just a stone’s throw away from two train stations with superb links to London. With it’s own dedicated car parking for staff and parents, whether you choose to drive to work or opt to make use of the local public transport links, you will be well catered for.

The nursery will provide full day care for children aged 3 month to 5 years old, across 51 weeks of the year, between 7.30am-6.30pm. Housed within a newly restored 2 storey building decorated to the highest standard, the environment is child-centred and designed to support learning through play for all age groups. With it’s own private, enclosed garden for outside play and exploration, and plans for additional weekly sessions to compliment and extend learning and development, the children who attend really will thrive!

The owner is an experienced teacher with a long history and knowledge of education. His expertise lies in primary and secondary education, so he is looking to appoint a Nursery Manager who will bring early years experience, someone who will work in harmony with him to create and build a vision and ethos which specifically supports and celebrates children’s early years. A very personable, happy-go-lucky character, he is passionate about creating a warm and happy nursery. He is a firm believer of praising and rewarding efforts.

As the successfully appointed Nursery Manager, you will be down to earth and have a positive, optimistic outlook. You will have high expectations and your focus will be on the children. You will be adaptable, and you will bring early years experience and knowledge, natural leadership qualities, commitment and passion, as well as the following attributes:

* Current experience of working as a Nursery Manager (minimum of 2 years) – ideally you will have previously been involved in the set up of a new nursery, or you will have led a recent Ofsted inspection with a final grading of ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’
* At least a level 3 early years qualification
* Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and other relevant regulations
* Confidence to lead and embed high quality practice and provision, and the ability to create clear and concise development and self-evaluation plans
* A genuine team spirit and the ability to communicate a shared vision and ethos across your team
* The ability to effectively support, encourage and motivate team members through positive role modelling, open communication, regular supervision, appraisal and effective performance management
* Experience of recruiting staff members and a good understanding of safer recruitment processes
* Confidence to build excellent partnerships, ensuring team members and parents are valued, respected and included
* The ability to establish professional relationships with external agencies
* A secure understanding of effective safeguarding procedures
* Knowledge of Health and Safety rules and regulations
* Business acumen and the ability to build and manage occupancy levels, and to budget and monitor spends
