Information about the school

St. Laurence Church of England Junior School has 253 pupils and is a two form entry junior school with a distinctive Christian character. St Laurence converted to an Academy just over two years ago. Since our conversion status, we have improved our end of Key Stage results significantly from the previous year and are narrowing the gap between our SEN and Pupil Premium children compared to National Expectations. We have a committed staff and a newly formed leadership team that works closely with the Diocese to improve school performance. The school is on an upward trajectory and is on a mission to be at least a good school in the next year.

We promote a values- led education which means that we provide a high level of pastoral care to ensure that all our children achieve well, no matter their level of deprivation or emotional needs. St Laurence provides a network of support for families that need it. It is praised in the local community for being a “caring school”.

We have worked successfully within the BRESIC collaboration, which has enabled us to work with other schools to improve our professional practice and develop links within the community. There are also good links with our local church and our strong focus on Christian values is communicated well through the ethos of our school.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
