We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a passion for supporting young people with SEND. The successful candidate should be willing to work with pupils in all key stages across the school.
The position is suitable for Newly Qualified Teachers and also those teachers new to a special school setting. The post offers exciting professional development opportunities for candidates seeking to develop their career within a supportive and experienced team.
Induction training will be provided in school and there are opportunities to pursue specialist training courses to further enhance your knowledge and skills.
The ability to work with other disciplines and to direct a small team of teaching assistants is required.
Ideal candidates will:
- hold a recognised teaching qualification
- have a good understand of current statutory and curriculum requirements of schools
- have knowledge of teaching pupils with special educational needs in either mainstream or specialist setting
- be able to differentiate their approach for pupils of all abilities
- be able to work well as a member of a team and have excellent interpersonal skills with children, parents, professionals and other adults
- be an effective team player with the ability to coordinate and direct the work of classroom support staff

Information about the school
The Foreland School is a Day Special School for pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN), many of whom also have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
We provide for up to 165 pupils aged 2-19 in four departments; Nursery/Infants, Juniors (KS2) Seniors (KS3) and 14 to 19 Education (Saxon House), plus two fully staffed mainstream inclusion class bases within Garlinge Primary School and Hartsdown Academy.
This is an exciting time to join us as we prepare to undertake a complete rebuild of the school on a new site, with improved accommodation and capacity for up to 200 pupils from February 2017.
