Assistant Underwriter (Small Business Team)
£17,500 to £20,000 dependant on experience, plus excellent benefits
As an Assistant Underwriter, you will be joining the highly profitable and expanding Small Business Commercial Insurance Team in Maidstone. You will also be working as part of a multi-award winning company, with a team of professionals who are recognised as experts within their field.
You will be working closely with our UK Broker Network and other Allianz branches in a fast paced telephony environment; aimed at delivering superior customer service and underwriting. You will play a key part in ensuring that Allianz achieves its ambition to be the market’s number one leading Commercial Insurer.
To do this you will learn to underwrite Allianz products and develop your trading and soft skills and handling; you will learn about our culture, our business and our values; you will learn how to generate new business, make mid-term adjustments and how to negotiate renewing business; all within a 10 week induction programme. Your development continues at your own pace with further speciality lines training that will help you to progress in your role; giving you the authority to handle more complex work and make wider trading decisions. After 4 months you will be invited to develop your knowledge further by attending our CII accredited Underwriting Academy. You will also be encouraged to continue with your Chartered Insurance Institute Certificate and Diploma qualifications.
Working as part of a high performing team you will use your influencing and relationship building skills to grow and develop new and existing relationships. You will analyse data from brokers to make informed business decisions; referring to the appropriate authority holder as appropriate; process and manage queries and information requests via email, telephone and LiveChat.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who are looking to develop their career in insurance. If you are customer and career focussed with a desire to manage relationships with customers using your superior influencing and negotiating skills to win new, or retain and develop existing business, then this is the role for you. To be considered, you’ll need to have a minimum of 2 A levels and GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent); together with, excellent written and verbal communication skills that will enable you to build strong relationships with our brokers. You will also have strong numerical and verbal reasoning skills alongside a strong commitment to personal development including continuing with your CII qualifications.
