Business Continuity


My client, a leading Insurance company, is looking to recruit an experienced Business Continuity Analyst to join their Service Management team. Working within the company Business Continuity Management (BCM) Programme, the role will also be responsible for Crisis and Incident Management, as well as hands-on requirements such at Testing and Desktop Recovery.


Key responsibilities include:
· Acting as the point of contact for all Business Continuity related queries
· Ensuring current Business Continuity activities meet the minimum standard requirements
· Oversight and governance of BC solutions for new services and projects
· Coordinating and planning Exercises (WAR, Desktop scenarios etc. with support of other CIO teams) – Implementation, and Application management
· Proactively contributing to a continual improvement programme, identifying areas within the programme to reduce risk and ensure a more effective response to incidents
· Providing 24/7 incident response / crisis management support as part of the team on-call response team


The successful candidate will be expected to:
· Report the current state of assurance to different parts of the business
· Recommend and implement improvements to recovery capability and strategy
· Ensure 3rd parties adhere to contracted SLA’s around recovery capability and other risks
· Deliver improvement projects over and above programme activity
· Maintenance, review of all documentation, processes and continuity/recovery plans
· Post exercise review and test report writing
· Provide SME support for all Projects around BC requirements
· Maintenance and configuration of tools (Clearview, Sharepoint etc.)
· Deliver training and awareness activities across the business
· Stakeholder relationship management
· Ensure new risks are identified and escalated through the correct channels with mitigation measures implemented reducing overall risk.
· Working with Senior Managers and recovery teams to implement recovery strategies limiting business impact
· Maintenance, review validation of IT system and business impact assessments
· Ensure that all business processes and IT systems are correctly classified using the Tier system for recovery and availability


Applicants will be expected to have recent relevant Business Continuity experience, ideally gained from a Financial Services environment. Knowledge, and ideally experience, of the following disciplines would also be required: ITDR, Crisis Management, Risk, Emergency response planning, Resilience planning.


A thorough understanding of Business Continuity good practice would be expected: BCI GPG, ISO22301, along with familiarity of risk management and assessment processes and standards (e.g. ISO31000). Experience of reviewing, writing and maintaining large numbers of response plans, Business Impact Assessments (BIA’s) as part of a comprehensive BCM Programme is essential.


Ideally candidates should have a Business Continuity, DR, Risk or Resilience related accreditation and/or membership e.g. CBCI, MBCI, DRII, Risk Diploma IRM
