DHARMA PRIMARY SCHOOL: SENCO / SEN Lead
THE DHARMA PRIMARY SCHOOL
A foundation for all-round excellence, designed with mindfulness at its heart
The Dharma Primary School, in Brighton, is a non-selective independent school and nursery and welcomes children aged 3-11 years from all backgrounds, faiths and abilities. Our philosophy is rooted in Buddhist principles and for 20 years we have excelled in offering a first-class education that balances academic achievement with personal development and well-being. Through the practice of mindfulness, the school aims to cultivate wisdom, reflection and compassion in children and to help them unlock their full potential.
This is wonderful opportunity for someone to join the school in the role of SEN Lead and develop, deepen and integrate their understanding of mindfulness in education. The role is offered on a part-time basis 3 days a week. The school’s staff and parents are from a variety of Buddhist and other spiritual, religious and cultural backgrounds. Our ethos is based on the dharma, the teachings of the Buddha and although we seek Buddhist staff, our primary commitment is to excellence in teaching and work practice; we do not therefore require applicants to be practising Buddhists.
Deadline for completed applications: Midday Wednesday 12th May
Interviews 19th May.
This school year we welcomed new Head Teacher, Clare Eddison, who took up post in September. An inspiring and talented educator, Clare is leading the school into an exciting new phase of development: “I’m pleased that as well as offering a superb academic education, our approach actively supports the development of positive learning dispositions such as resilience and reflection. Big Project learning and Forest School activities instil a sense of responsibility and deep connection with the natural world and wider community. Our approach creates well-rounded, compassionate and confident children who make a smooth transition into secondary education.”
The Dharma Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
