Transportation Manager - Quality Custom Distribution - Kent, WA





JOB SUMMARY: Manages all activities related to a facility’s transportation, ensuring that Division and Company objectives for efficiency, economy, quality, and productivity are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Plans and directs the day-to-day transportation functions, including the work assignments of facility transportation supervisors and clerical staff, to ensure that department standards for efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness are met or exceeded. (25%)

  • Establishes and communicates department goals, monitoring employee performance to ensure they are met or exceeded. (15%)

  • Provides training, development, and performance evaluations of department staff; works with Human Resources to department hiring to ensure selection of qualified employees. (15%)

  • Directs the completion of routing, manpower, and equipment schedules to ensure that organizational KPIs are met. (15%)

  • Coordinates daily and monthly repairs and preventative maintenance for all tractors and trailers with Penske for safety, to minimize down time, and to comply with DOT and other Federal and State transportation and safety regulations for all GSF distribution centers. (15%)

  • Develops, audits, and manages the budget and operations costs to ensure efficient operations. (10%)

  • Obtains, analyzes, and recommends equipment specifications, quotes, and procurement for essential department equipment to ensure effective use of operating funds. (5%)

    Northwood Middle School is located in the Fairwood area of Renton, Washington and is one of six Kent School District middle schools.     Basic Function:
    Under the direction of the Principal, the Academic Intervention Teacher assists in the students’ adjustment and integration within the general educational setting. The Academic Intervention Teacher ensures contact with students, families, school staff, and administrators via individual, group, and family meetings to resolve student, home, and school-based academic challenges and facilitate the educational process.


    The Academic Intervention Teacher works directly with student, teachers, and support staff to provide classroom intervention in grades K-12. The Academic Intervention Teacher will be responsible for collaborating with classroom teachers to plan lessons in a variety of subject areas (math, health, social studies, science, etc.). The Academic Intervention Teacher will teach in large and small groups of students within the regular classroom setting and provide additional individual and group interventions to students.

    This position oversees all functions of the Shipping department in the Distribution Center. Ensures that all shipments conform to company and customer guidelines. Accountable to accurately meet shipping goals. Provides training and immediate supervision to a group of employees. KEY RESULTS AREAS Oversee all aspects of shipping department material handlers and LPA associate training and development in order to meet daily production goals and in accordance with safety guidelines. Works with Traffic Supervisor to understand customer compliance requirements and chargeback penalties related to outbound shipments in order to meet standard and minimize chargeback penalties. Accountable for all outbound shipments leaving the warehouse. Works with Ecommerce, Processing and VAS Supervisors to ensure shipments are processed and manifested correctly on a daily basis according to customer shipping dates and that all shipping documents are correctly completed and returned to the Traffic Department. Uses reporting tools to plan, monitor, prepare and audit all outbound shipments. Oversee Shipping Department and LPA area to ensure all outbound shipments meet daily freight and small package carrier pick-up cutoffs and are accurate. Ability to operate all lift equipment as well as hand trucks, pallet jacks and riding floor jacks according to safety guidelines. Oversee LPA associate correctly labels freight and packing list documents of all outbound Tommy Bahamas customer shipments. Ensures labeling and tape machines are working properly. Work with outside freight carriers Fedex, UPS, Smartpost, etc. to ensure pick up needs are met Work with IT department for resolution with system issues and corrections. Ability to work in multiple systems and troubleshoot. Warehouse management, ERP, Shipping and Time keeping programs.     Your Profile


    The successful candidate will be Multi Skilled with Electrical/Mechanical experience and ideally and Electrical Bias You will be qualified with a C&G 236 and above, preferably with a BS7671 17th Edition Qualification. You must be competent working with PLC’s (Allen Bradley & Siemens preferable). You will be an effective problem solver with good diagnostic skills. Computer Literate and have basic administrative skills. Experience working in Print & FMCG is preferable but not a necessity.


    It would also be desirable if you can offer knowledge of Site Production Processes, leading edge manufacturing techniques, continuous improvement and 5S techniques


    Managerial/supervisory experience would be a huge advantage


    The Role


    As an engineer you will be expected to carry out reactive and preventative maintenance on a double day alternating shift pattern. You should be able to work within a multi-disciplined team as well as be capable of working independently.


    You will be carrying out mechanical and electrical installations, working on PLC’s (Mainly fault finding), meeting KPI’s (Quality, Cost, Health & Safety).


    You will also have decision making authorisation for identifying necessary parts and equipment required for repairs & improvements, ordering spares & equipment, make rational and informed decisions with regard to breakdown solutions and completion of individual projects

    Our Client has been designing, building and maintaining gardens throughout the UK for a considerable amount of years and have gained a desirable reputation for their renowned garden designs they pride themselves on their high customer service levels with a strong work ethic.


    You will be reporting to a Supervisor who will become your best friend and will be overseeing your day to day progress ensuring that you meet your targets and deadlines. You will have extensive grounds maintenance experience, exceptional plant knowledge and the ability to consistently work hard. You will have the talent to contribute to the upkeep, maintenance and general tidiness of the grounds in line with service standards using all types of associated equipment.


    Because you will have incredible knowledge of horticulture / grounds maintenance you must demonstrate proficiency in a broad range of disciplines relating to the upkeep and general maintenance, including but not exclusive of the following; grass cutting and mowing to all forms of grass and lawn areas, flower beds and shrubberies, hedge cutting, sports grounds maintenance, nature conservation and weed control. You will have the capability of taking special care of all plants and machinery.


    You will be given the opportunity to work in wide range of sectors serving the commercial construction industry including housing developers, local authorities, education and health. You will being working on numerous outside spaces to ensure that they are properly maintained. Their work also helps landowners fulfil their duty of care to the public by seeing to the safety of paving, trees, and outside ornamentation.


    Because you will be the go-to person on site, excellent communication skills both written and verbal is highly essential, you should be keen to develop your own personal and professional skills for the benefit of yourself and the business, good time keeping skills and the ability to work to deadlines are a must!


    We are looking for a bubbly individual that drives as you will be taking it in turns to drive your Supervisor and other co-workers from site to site occasionally so your own transportation to the yard is essential (no public transport). You will need to hold a valid CSCS card (although this is not essential) and you`d be ahead of the game if you also held the PA1 and PA6 qualifications. Photographic evidence of your work is preferential.


    This role would suit a candidate with experience of, landscaping, strimming, cutting, pruning, planting, turfing, horticultural qualifications, weed control and machine maintenance.

    Traffic Control Flagger - K&D SERVICES INC - Auburn, WA

    Work Settings/Description of Environmental Hazard Encountered: Highways, city and county roads. Working around moving vehicles on roadways and around moving heavy equipment at road construction site.

    Essential Functions: Must have strong verbal communication skills, ability to read and write, good eye-hand coordination, and the ability to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events. Employees need to be able to work without direct supervision. As this job may require long periods of standing and being subjected to adverse weather conditions, it is important that the flagger be in good physical condition. It is essential that the employee have good eyesight (corrected vision if needed) and hearing.


    General Description of Duties: According to the Dept. of Transportation (D.O.T.) and confirmed by contract, worker controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects: Discusses traffic plans and type and location of control points with superior. Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern. Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand and flag signals. Warns construction/utility workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers. Informs drivers of detour routes through work sites. Records license number of traffic control violators for police/law enforcement. May give hand marker to last driver in line up of one-way traffic.


    Machine, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids: Position requires the use of stop/slow paddle, hard-hat, reflective vest, rain gear, safety cones, safety signs, radio and vehicle.


    Competencies Required to Perform Job: Employees must have a valid Flagger Certification card issued in the state of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana and a valid driver license.


    Physical Requirements of Job Tasks:


    General Lift/Carry Expectations: Constantly 10 pounds maximum; occasionally 40 pounds maximum


    Standing: Constant standing throughout the shift. Position may require standing for periods greater than two hours at a time, for a total of greater than eight hours.


    Walking: Occasional walking throughout shift to remain alert and to move with machinery involved in worksite project. Will periodically walk to put down and pick up safety cones and signs.


    Sitting: Occasional sitting for brief periods in vehicles when moving from one location to another. No sitting permitted when performing flagging.


    Lifting/Carrying: Constant handling of 24″ aluminum paddle with PVC pipe weighing 4-5 lbs. Lift/carry rubber safety cones, weighing 7-8 lbs each, intermittently throughout shift (load may be broken down by employee). Set-up and take down traffic control signs (maximum 20 lbs.) and stands (maximum 40 lbs.) up to 10 times per shift.


    Reaching: Constant reaching with one hand/arm to steady stop/slow paddle out in front of body. Constant reaching out in front of body with one arm to motion traffic. Constant raising and lowering paddle to full extension of arm. Position allows worker to alternate hands/arms at their discretion.


    Stooping/Bending: Occasional stooping/bending when putting down and picking up safety cones, about 10 times per shift.


    Twisting — Wrists/Forearms: Frequent twisting of wrist/forearm to turn stop/slow paddle from side to side. Position allows worker to alternate hands/arms at their discretion.


    Grasping: Constant grasping of stop/slow paddle one-handed (may alternate hands at own discretion).


    Foot/Leg Use (controls): Occasional use of foot pedals to operate vehicle within the worksite.


    Flagging is a part-time position, with the potential of working full-time hours. Weather conditions and seasonal factors can affect the availability of work. Following are the requirements for employment as a Certified Flagger with K&D Services, Inc.


  • You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

  • You must have a current Traffic Control Flagger card, issued in the state of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana. ( Training & certification will be provided by K&D if needed.)

  • You must have a current and valid Driver’s License.

  • You must be able to complete and pass the on-the-road training/evaluation. (You will be paid for this time.)

  • You must have a reliable vehicle to provide self-transportation to and from work sites.

  • You must be able to provide a viable means of contacting you by telephone within thirty (30) minutes. (A cell phone or pager is desirable.)

  • Current standard first aid training desired (mandatory after one year of employment).

  • You must be able to meet the requirements of the attached “Flagger Job Description.”

  • You acknowledge that if hired, there is no specified length of employment and that you or K&D Services, Inc. can terminate the relationship at will, with or without cause, at any time, so long as there is no violation of applicable federal or state law.
