I am working with one of the UK’s fastest growing Civil Engineering Contractors who are on the lookout for a talented Buyer to join their company head offices in Kent.
My client are a multi- disciplinary civil engineering company and work across various sectors that include transport, water, power, ports and harbours and other challenging environments. They are on the lookout for an experienced Buyer to join their growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing new systems which will enable them to purchase new materials, plant and consumables in a more efficient manner. Projects range from 100k – £3M in value anything from groundworks and drainage, platform refurbishments, power infrastructure with experience working within Cross Rail, Network Rail, London Underground and TFL projects.
The buyer will work with all areas of the business and duties will include, but will not be limited to;
• Improving the procurement process for the Project Delivery team
• Management of the yearly spend budgets and splits between suppliers.
• Daily interaction with the purchasing process to ensure best value.
• Preparation of costing information for the Estimating team.
• Negotiation and relationship management with company supply chain. The ideal candidate will possess the following experience
• Proven buying background and experience in similar role (5 years minimum) • Sound knowledge of both construction material and site plant
• Ability to execute objectives set by senior management.
• Excellent knowledge of local and national suppliers
• Strong negotiation skills, self-motivated and results driven.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office.
