Donation Attendant - Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region - Tacoma, WA

Donation Attendants at Goodwill are responsible for accepting donations from donors and issuing receipts as necessary. This is a front-line position representing Goodwill to the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greets donor and carries donation from donor’s vehicle to center. Gives donor a receipt if requested.


Exercises sound judgment in determining which donations are acceptable and which are not. Uses good customer service practices when it is necessary to refuse a donation.


Thanks donor for the donation and is always courteous to all donors


Keeps donation area, both inside and outside of building, clean, neat, and free of debris at all times.


Sorts donations into appropriate categories, ready for pricing in production department.


Learns and follows all policies and procedures related to donation operations. Is trained in gaylord and pallet use and assures that unsafe gaylords and pallets are removed from use.


Learns and practices safe methods for lifting and moving donations.


Assists in unloading/loading trucks and/or trailers.


Projects appropriate behavior and appearance as a representative of Goodwill. Practices positive customer relations.


Maintains all required records and delivers to supervisor or driver as scheduled.


Other duties may be assigned.


Education and/or Experience : High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills : Must have legible handwriting and the ability to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and smell. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally required to team-lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements for this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles, and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
