Depot Transport Administrator




Due to the rapid growth of our business and the ongoing success of new our Gillingham operation we are looking for an experienced Administrator/Transport Clerk to join the small friendly team based at our Gillingham Depot.


The Ideal candidate will provide professional and efficient transport administrative support, taking a pivotal role in the smooth-running of the Depot. The successful candidate will report into the Depot Manager and will initially complete a full and comprehensive induction programme.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities of the role will include:


Creating and maintaining accurate records system including vehicle compliance, vehicle maintenance schedules etc. Ensure that all queries are dealt with efficiently and politely to both internal and external customers. Ensuring all tachographs are maintained and stored correctly whilst maintaining all legalities within the Depot in accordance with Company policy ensuring that the Company shows due-diligence at all times.


Formulating a professional working relationship with suppliers, employees and management. Liaising with Procurement and Depot Management when ordering specified products.


To be responsible for the daily completions of drivers returns, de-brief and all product return documentation. To adhere with Company Policy in relation to personal hygiene, personal presentation, Health, safety and housekeeping at all times.


Maintain Company Security policy, ensuring that any suspicious incidents are reported to Senior Management and be willing to undertake any other duties in relation to the Depot as may be reasonably required


The ideal candidate will need to be reliable and display a high level of integrity and also be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.


Professional communication with people at all levels in the business as well as suppliers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good computer, numeracy, analytical and literary skills and the ability to work under pressure and remain calm whilst still maintaining a methodical approach with strong attention to detail.


Previous experience within the transport industry is desirable but not essential.


We are offering a competitive salary which will be dependent on knowledge and experience. Saturday cover may be required, where this is worked it will be included in the 45 hour working week and an alternative day off in the week will be given. Normal daily start time for this role will be 7.00am.


Possession of a Transport Management CPC qualification would be advantageous.
